Fine & Country Cumbria and Fine & Country South Scotland Merge

Fine & Country Cumbria and Fine & Country South Scotland Merge

Fine & Country, the fast growing luxury estate agency brand which specialises in the sale and rental of individual and unique properties, has strengthened and consolidated its position in the region following the acquisition of Fine & Country Cumbria by Fine & Country South Scotland.

This deal brings together the individual success and estate agency expertise of two neighbouring family-owned businesses both of which are part of the national and international Fine & Country network, which has over 300 branches throughout the UK and internationally.

The amalgamation of these two businesses creates a powerful, professional service offering, for a wide range of city and country clients. Their international brand and marketing capabilities, local market knowledge and combined industry expertise creates a unique proposition in this ever-changing market.

The new business will be led by Louisa Thomson whose original family business was Thomson Roddick and Laurie and both her uncle John and her father Stuart Thomson are Directors. Fine & Country South Scotland and Cumbria are now part of the broad based property business of C&D Auction Marts Limited which has a long established auction and land and estate agency presence.

In addition to its Fine & Country offices, the company operates the C&D Rural brand selling residential property, land and farms; letting residential property and delivering a full array of land agency and chartered surveying services.

Nick and Helen Miller have successfully developed Fine & Country in northern Cumbria over the past ten years from a standing start, after becoming a member company of the brand. The opening of their Carlisle office in 2018 saw an extension of their success in the quality residential market, adding the best of city properties to their portfolio in addition to the mainstay of country properties. Their achievements in this specialist market have been recognised nationally by Fine & Country with the award for the Best Fine & Country office in the North West, for the last two years running. They also attained the national award for the best PR performance in promoting clients’ properties across a wide range of national media.

Helen Miller is being retained by the buyer as Head of Sales, based in the Carlisle office. Nick Miller, who is retiring from the business following the sale said “bringing together two businesses who are so complementary is quite a result and I am delighted that the future of our talented staff is secure. There is a great future ahead for Louisa, Helen and the team”

The expertise and experience of these businesses brings a strong service offering for a wide range of clients, with added financial strength and top quality advice, incorporating the use of cutting edge technology and web based office systems. It creates a natural synergy with an extensive offering to clients across the entire area, with a total staff of eighteen.

Louisa Thomson commented “This creates an enviable mix of talents. We are delighted to have acquired such a high quality business and to bring together two outstanding teams of people who are committed to the best client service.”
