Prepare your taste buds for a delightful experience as WestFest, a new food and drink festival, makes its debut in West London. Scheduled for September 28th from 11am to 8pm at Old Market Place on Chiswick High Street, this vibrant event promises a day filled with craft beer, street food, and community spirit. Best of all, admission is free!
Spearheaded by Richard Johnson, a former restaurant critic for the Independent and founder of the British Street Food Awards, WestFest is set to be a lively gathering of the area's independent brewers and distillers. This year, the festival will proudly host the final of the British Street Food Awards, marking its first appearance in west London after 15 years in the east.
Throughout the summer, heats for the awards have taken place across the country, with regional winners now converging in Chiswick for the ultimate showdown. The food offerings at the festival remain a tantalising secret, as attendees will have the exciting opportunity to vote for their favourite. The winner will then represent Britain at the European Street Food Awards in Munich this October.
Joining the public in the decision-making process will be a panel of esteemed judges, including Greg Wellman, head chef at the Michelin-starred La Trompette, and Gaetano Farucci, head chef at the Michelin-starred Caractere.
It is anticipated that Michele Pascarella from the award-winning Napoli On The Road will also join as a third judge.
While the food remains under wraps, festival-goers can look forward to sampling craft beer from local favourites such as Horseden Hill’s Perivale Brewery, Jawbone in Twickenham, and Tiny Vessel in Hampton.
Additionally, beer from Fuller’s Griffin Brewery in Chiswick and gin from the nearby Sipsmith Gin will be available to enjoy.
