One life – and this is where to live it!

You must have seen those many 4x4s that travel round emblazoned with the legend: “One life – live it!”.
But you may think that bouncing round ever-diminishing green lanes in an SUV is a singular way to do things when life can offer so much more. And for one fortunate buyer that plethora of enjoyment opportunities could well come in the form of Shrover Lodge, Lovedean, which looks spectacular in the day but especially so when lit up at night.

Laid out to take full advantage of its gently-sloping and south-facing setting, the Lodge has plenty to keep you occupied in the best of ways. And when you do want to explore the delights of the wider world the South Downs National Park is literally just up the lane where it embraces an ancient landscape that humans have appreciated for thousands of years.

And back at Shrover, which demands its own location name on Ordnance Survey maps, there’s probably enough space to house a whole tribe of your own thanks to the copious space in the house itself plus the plentiful guest self-contained and separate accommodation that keeps visitors close – but not too close!

Shrover Lodge could almost be dedicated to those who love the outdoors, with plenty of glazing to ensure that when there’s daylight outside you can benefit inside. And when it’s also warm, which we now is increasingly often, the outdoor terraces and entertaining spaces even benefit from an outdoor kitchen.

Although it is thought to have had humble beginnings as a chapel for Shrover Hall, built in 1965 by William Pink, the then Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, it was later extended, became a dairy, and then was divided into three apartments before becoming one family home in the 1980s. The current owners have undertaken a complete programme of renovation and restoration. They have created a beautiful, classically modern family home with impressive gables and orangeries each with stunning views over the seven acres of maintained grounds and areas of entertainment.

Among the latter is an open air cinema attached to a games room and bar while those feeling the effects of maybe a little too much excess the day before can work themselves back to fitness in the gym or maybe just sweat it off in the sauna before taking a plunge in the hot tub.

Shrover Lodge is also conveniently situated on the edge of Denmead village and ideally suited for those looking to work from home yet enjoys a private setting and cannot be viewed from the road. All primary rooms face the gardens with approximately two acres of well-maintained landscape, grounds with separate Cypress trees, raised gardens with rockeries and beautiful zoned areas around the outbuildings.

A further approximately five acres of undulating grounds are maintained as paddock land surrounded by wildflower meadow banks, framing the land along with a tree lined perimeter with a large Laurel hedge which is home to many beehives.

Shrover Lodge and its grounds are truly one of a kind, whether your heart is in the home or in the gardens. It’s an opportunity not to be missed!
