Godstone Area Guide

Godstone is a pretty village consisting of two centres, Church Town and Godstone Green. Both are now conservation areas. Church Town has numerous old timber-framed buildings plus many pretty brick-built houses such as the row in the High Street. Godstone Green has a picturesque green with a duck pond. It became a busy centre with the growth of wheeled traffic in the 16th century and was once a stopping-off point for the ‘well to do’ on the journey from London to the south coast. The Blindley Heath Site of Special Scientific Interest, the Greensand Way and the North Downs Way all pass through areas of Godstone. Leisure amenities within the general area include Tandridge Golf Club, Tandridge Priory Riding School and Limpsfield Tennis Club. Godstone railway station provides services between Redhill and Tonbridge while Oxted has a railway station with services to London Victoria and London Bridge plus shops, coffee bars, cinema, leisure centre and restaurants.

Transport

Transport links are excellent. The nearby M25 provides road access to the wider motorway network, Gatwick Airport and the other major international airports at Heathrow & Stansted whilst the M23, A217, A22 and A21 link with the M25 for journeys towards and around London and south towards Brighton and the south coast. There is excellent commuting by train and depending upon your choice of station, available destinations include London Bridge, London Victoria, Gatwick, Reading, Brighton, Peterborough, Redhill, Tonbridge, Horsham & Uckfield.
