History
Originally a market town, Crawley is principally located in West Sussex but the northern portion is within the historic county of Surrey. Crawley offers a great balance between countryside and city living. Located about midway between Brighton and London, Crawley is close to woodland and green spaces and several parks and is ideally placed for Gatwick Airport. There are plenty of pubs, shops, and restaurants plus comprehensive shopping options at the Crawley Market and County Mall Shopping Centre. The Mall has varied leisure facilities including a bowling alley and multiplex cinema. Tilgate Park has 162 hectares of wooded parkland and the Crawley Millennium Greenway is a 24 km orbital route through woodlands and open space around the town. A range of sporting and leisure facilities includes the K2 Centre with a 12-metre-high climbing wall, squash courts, an Olympic-length swimming pool and an excellent quality athletics track.
Crawley railway station provides commuter trains, including services to Gatwick Airport, London Victoria, London Bridge, Peterborough, Stevenage and to the South Coast.

Sport and leisure opportunities include walking, cycling and horse riding around the Surrey Hills and High Weald Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and along the North Downs Way, Greensand Way and Vanguard Way plus an abundance of woodland and local circular walks. There are plenty of golf courses within the area plus gyms and spas and a variety of sports clubs including cricket, tennis, football, rugby, hockey, bowls and croquet.
Transport
Transport links are excellent. The nearby M25 provides road access to the wider motorway network, Gatwick Airport and the other major international airports at Heathrow & Stansted whilst the M23, A217, A22 and A21 link with the M25 for journeys towards and around London and south towards Brighton and the south coast. There is excellent commuting by train and depending upon your choice of station, available destinations include London Bridge, London Victoria, Gatwick, Reading, Brighton, Peterborough, Redhill, Tonbridge, Horsham & Uckfield.
