Thame (the name derives from the river Thame, which flows around the northern part of the town) is an historic thriving market town (of Anglo Saxon origins) located some 13 miles to the south east of Oxford and 10 miles to the west of Aylesbury.
Today, the town centre offers a multitude of shopping facilities, mainly along the high street. There is a wonderful blend of smaller shops; toy shops, book shops, bakeries, butchers, arts and crafts shops with many cafes, restaurants and hotels. Brand name shops such as Fat-face, Crew, White Stuff, Boots, Superdrug have been established in Thame for some years. The town is superbly served with food stores such as Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. Waitrose is some 3 minutes’ walk from ‘Ridley House.’ There is a weekly Tuesday Market day which is located within the centre.

There are a number of banks, a post office and library and Thame is well served with doctor and dental surgeries. Hospitals can be found at Aylesbury (Stoke Mandeville) and Oxford (The John Radcliffe.)
Thame is surrounded by glorious Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire countryside. Local organisations and charities have made this accessible to the public with projects such as the Phoenix Trail, a flat former railway track linking Thame to nearby Princes Risborough, ideal for joggers and cyclists.
