Highlights and Attractions

Local sights

Enjoy a stroll along the sheltered promenade with views of the bay. Don’t miss the dolphins that are regularly spotted from Newbiggin Bay, as well as whales, porpoises, seals and otters. Artist Sean Henry’s sculpture ‘Couple’ has become an iconic quirk to Newbiggin’s coast, as the pair look out towards the North Sea and are extremely photogenic against their stunning sunset backdrop.

Museums and galleries

Visit Newbiggin Maritime Centre all year round to discover the Mary Joicey all-weather lifeboat and the Girl Anne fishing coble. The Breakwater Café serves local food and overlooks the bay, and the centre also has the longest promenade in Northumberland, an adjacent children's playpark and a sandy beach with rock pools. Alternatively, the Woodhorn Museum offers fantastic exhibitions throughout the year.
