Catch the tides and head over the causeway out to The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the cradle of Christianity in England.
Petite and beautiful, this stunning tidal island becomes separated from the world as waters wash over its causeway twice a day, making it completely inaccessible. Holy Island has a rich and intriguing history with the 12th century Lindisfarne Priory, home of St Oswald, and Lindisfarne Castle, with a history predominantly marked by the military defense. As well as being a place of pilgrimage and boasting a wealth of history, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne has an amazing array of wildlife, including puffins and seals. With only 180 residents, property rarely comes up for sale on the island.

Highlights and Attractions
Local walks
St Cuthbert's Bay is a gorgeous 62-mile route that covers the picturesque countryside, and picnic-worthy riverbanks and offers far-reaching views, stretching along the coast. It's an absolute must if you enjoy spending your day taking in the fresh air with unbeatable scenery. If you're looking to explore a shorter route, Pilgrim's Way offers 3 miles of sandy scenery to enjoy while the tide is out.
Seal spotting
Seals can be spotted around the island every year, particularly throughout the summer. Their favourite resting spots are the sandbanks and Guile Point. At high tide, they can often be seen swimming in pairs or groups between the sands and the Castle along the south side of the island, and sometimes near headlands to the north of the island.
Events
The famous Lindisfarne Festival is a three-day end-of-summer party festival, with music and entertainment. Bring your tent and enjoy a hedonistic weekend at Beale, overlooking Holy Island.
