Deal is a delightful town with an award winning high street, a wonderful selection of individual shops, the seafront with its historic pier, a Saturday market, hotels, bars and restaurants, and the Tides swimming pool complex. It has its origins in the 13th century when it became a ‘limb port’ of the Cinque Ports and at the time was the busiest port in England.

Attractions

Although now a seaside resort, its quaint streets, museums, ancient monuments including Deal and Walmer Castles and old houses are a reminder of its long history. Deal and adjacent Walmer, with its large green and bandstand, offer an eclectic mix of period properties including the converted Royal Marine Barracks as well as more modern homes to suit all tastes and budgets.

There is a football and a rugby club as well as the Kingsdown and Walmer, and the Royal Cinque Ports golf clubs and sailing at the Downs Sailing Club. You will find good primary schools in the area with Warden House Primary rated Outstanding by Ofsted, while both Dover and Sandwich offers excellent grammar schools. The mainline stations provides access to the high speed train to St Pancras in an hour and a quarter.
