Birchington has a variety of individual shops and supermarkets as well as beauty and hair salons, vets and a medical centre and is well known for the miles of sandy beach at the Blue Flag Minnis Bay. It has some excellent restaurants and pubs, plus Quex Park with its museum and complex that includes a garden centre, leisure activity areas, craft shops and a livery stables, while Quex Barn offers wonderful food in its farmshop.
Schools
The local Birchington primary school is a good school with the nearby St Nicholas at Wade primary rated Outstanding by Ofsted while good secondary education is available at King Ethelbert and Ursuline College and grammar schools can be found in Broadstairs and Ramsgate.
Activities
There is a sailing club and water ski club and also the Westgate and Birchington Golf Club, tennis and bowls club. If you enjoy walking there are a number of excellent places for a bracing stroll and cyclists can revel in a trip along the Viking Coastal Trail.
