Roydon is a small village located in Essex. The historic village is largely laid out around a central high road that runs from the top of the village, down to the village train station which feeds into London Liverpool Street and Broxbourne. There is a wealth of rural and agricultural land surrounding the village, which affords the residents the luxury of countryside walks and outdoor activity. The high road has several pubs, St Peter's Church, and a village shop - which residents can buy all of their essentials from, for weekly shops one would need to travel outside the village or order in. There is also a village primary school.

Roydon is home to a mixture of residence styles. There are a number of character houses and cottages throughout the village, with sections of later building styles. Along the high street, the character houses and cottages are typically two to three-bedroom terraces and semi-detached homes. There is an area closer to Roydon Station of late 20th-century housing, where there is a higher percentage of four and five-bedroom detached homes. At the top of the village, Epping Road runs towards Harlow and Nazeing in the other direction. Along Epping Road, the amalgamation of character and newer houses, seen in the nucleus of the village, is ever-present.
